Detailed description of Galena Golf Club
Galena Golf Club is a Semi-Private 18 hole golf course located just outside Galena, Illinois.
Par for the course is 71. From the back tees the course plays to 6,607 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,399 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 10, a par-5 that plays to 542 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 14, a par-3 that plays to 135 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 15, a 453 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 5, a 240 yard par-4.
Originally built as a 9 hole course in 1925, the course has undergone a complete facelift with an additional 9 built in 1994, and a comprehensive redesign of the original 9 in 2003. The course requires golfers to hit plenty of uphill and downhill shots.

This is an old links style course with rolling faiways. The greens are very tricky.

Challenging course with difficult greens. Hilly and tree lined. The course has several long par 4 holes, so it pays to be a big hitter off of these tees. Otherwise, you will be lucky to card a bogey.
